Default new Volkswagen economy car

http://www.caradvice.com.au/25172/vo...conomical-car/

It looks like it has all of the devices needed to be US street legal. 75 mph top speed, 258 mpg and a cost of $600. VW usually has high safety ratings, too. I can't wait until it comes out here!

It looks like $600 is the USD price in China. Typically cars sell for much cheaper over there. When they are sold in the US the price will likely increase. This is due in part to the safety and emission standards in the US.

The Tata Nano is another super-econ car that is coming to the US (supposedly in 2011). The Indian car company is selling it at $2500 USD in India. There are no official US prices, but everyone is speculating a 2-3x increase in price when it debuts in the US.

I had heard of the Nano, but there are some problems with safety. They've had three burst into flames out of the 300,000 on the road. The problem has apparently been fixed, but hopefully there aren't any more.

The 2-3x increase still makes it a pretty good price.
